Laura Besada
Laura’s practice is focused exclusively on family law. Laura is passionate about providing high-quality legal services while assisting her clients to navigate the complexities of their unique family circumstances. Laura tailors her approach to her files depending on the needs of her clients.
Laura helps her clients with the full range of family law matters including: cohabitation agreements, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, marriage agreements, separation agreements, divorce, spousal support, child support, custody and guardianship, parenting arrangements, and property division.
While Laura strives to find resolution in a collaborative manner, she does not shy away from litigation. She has represented clients in the BC Provincial and Supreme Courts. Laura recently acted as co-counsel on a BC Supreme Court Family Law case wherein the judge awarded the Claimant the highest compensation to date for the Respondent’s breaches to numerous court orders. Laura is a certified Family Law Mediator, accredited by the Law Society of British Columbia. Laura can provide legal services in English and Spanish, and she speaks conversational German.
Laura is committed to making a difference in her community and to use her legal knowledge and expertise to provide access to justice. She volunteers as a certified mediator for low to modest income families through Access Pro-Bono’s Virtual Family Mediation Program and lawyer at Rise Women’s Legal Centre. When not practicing law, Laura enjoys running, salsa dancing and hiking with her husband and dog.
