Roger S. Tangry

Roger Tangry is a litigator with over 10 years of experience acting for individual and corporate clients in a broad array of commercial matters including insurance, construction, debtor creditor, builder’s lien, and contract disputes. Prior to joining GLC, Roger practiced at an insurance litigation boutique where he acted for institutional clients in matters involving subrogation, coverage, property, construction defects, strata disputes, commercial vehicle accidents, industrial accidents, and product liability. Roger has acted as counsel before all levels of court in British Columbia and has advocated for his clients at over 200 mediations.

Roger also brings a wealth of business experience to his legal practice drawn from his pre-law career working in transportation and logistics providing specialized air and ocean cargo management services to freight forwarders and international carriers in various global markets across North America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

When acting for clients, Roger sees his role as that of a practical legal strategist and risk manager employing his technical legal knowledge of commercial litigation to help them navigate complex disputes and manage exposure to risk with an approach he describes as “unravelling the ball of string, one strand at a time”. Recognizing that litigation can be costly and lengthy, Roger always strives to give his clients practical advice that is legally sound and commercially viable while finding ways to work towards manageable solutions to resolve disputes in a cost-effective manner.

Outside of his legal practice, Roger is committed to providing Pro Bono legal services to provide access to justice as an avid supporter of Amici Curiae Friends of Court where he wears various hats including as co-chair of the fundraising committee and as a weekly volunteer at legal forms workshops to help those in need. When not practicing or volunteering, Roger enjoys tennis, cycling and spending time with family including their cute (but demanding) Shih-poo puppy.
